Today in human geo we took our test! I studied but i don't believe I studied hard enough because i did not get the grade i wanted to get but i still passed, Thank God. There were a few questions were I did not know the answer but then others were I knew the answer right away. The one question that really made me laugh was the third one about who invented the revolver and I put Dan Wesson because I did not know the answer. After I handed in my test I looked it up and I got it wrong. But overall im glad I did not completely fail. Also I am looking forward to our christmas party friday!

Today in human geo we reviewed the powerpoint for our test on our wednesday. In the beginning of class there was an slight argument between Mr. Schick and my fellow students. Then we began to go over the powerpoint, we started with Christianity which is the largest religion in the world. We went on to talk about Islam, which is the second largest religion in the world. On 9/11 when Osama Bi landen attacked world traits center in New York. The country we invaded was Iraq and the main religion there was Muslims. We also talked about how Buddhism and Christianity are similar in many ways. The eightfold path of Buddhism is similar to the teachings of Jesus Christ in Christianity.

Today in human geo we took our test! I feel like I did okay on the test there where some things that i had no clue what it was and others where I snapped right on it and got the answer right away. The first part of the test I thought was fairly easy but the second half was more challenging than the first. The second part has stuff on how you could impeach leaders and what some of the laws were for countries. The essay question was kind of hard but it was no that difficult. Over all I think I did decent on today's test.

today in human geo class we had a pop quiz. It completely caught me by surprise. When we got the quiz we went over the directions and he showed us what was on the quiz. We had to use the scantron sheet to answer the questions on the qiuz. There was a little confusion during the quiz on the part where you had to match the leader with the country. Over all I thought I did pretty well, I got a 80% on the quiz. Which means I got 3 wrong. I hope this will not bring down my grade alot or push it up alot.

Today in human geo class we took a ridiculous test! I thought it was ridiculous because we had ten minutes to finish the front of the test using the cia world factbook. At first my computer was acting up and then I could find the united states of america on the list and it drove me crazy! I finished that part with like ten seconds to spare. The rest of the quiz was fairly easy, Mr. schick made me write down an answer for the bonus even though I didn't know the answer to the bonus question. So I just wrote down random numbers, I definitely know I didn't get them right. Overall it was not that bad of a test.

today in human geo class we talked about the test and the material that was going t o be on the test. we started with the main terms or definitions that were gonna be on the test. Mr. schick pulled out one of the test and showed us the part of the test were we have to use the C.I.A world factbook to answer the questions. He showed us as well how much time we had to finish that part . Mr. Schick pulled open a tab and showed us a stopwatch the had ten minutes set already. We have ten minutes to finish this part, I am frightened! I hope I do good on this test.

Today we talked about the best country in your own opinion. I thought that canada was the best country because there is a lot of snow and there is a good healthcare system. We talked about interesting facts about the country that we chose. The united states is first for importing oil. Then we are forty seventh for exporting. I thought this was very interesting because we are second biggest producer of oil. But we use so much oil we have to buy it from other countries.

Today in human geo we talked about the effect of the population pyramid. This image tells us the population of the country while also telling us whether it is male or female and what the ages are.
There are three categories, pre-childbearing ages, childbearing ages, and non-childbearing ages.
We looked at Canada's population pyramid and saw that most of its population is over the childbearing ages and so it causes the population to decrease. This is the same situation that japan has because they have a high life expectancy. Another contributing factor was the wars that Japan fought in. This resulted in Japans decrease in population.

- According to the Population Reference Bureau's "2013 World Population Data Sheet", 271 are born every minute, and 106 die every minute. That's a global net population increase of 165 per minute. This lesson was published on May 5th. What's the estimated global population increase exactly one week later (May 12th)? A: over 10 million B: 20,739 C: 1155 D: 1,663,200
- As a country slows in population growth, its pyramid shape will A: become wider at the base and narrower at the top B: be inverted C: become more rectangular D: bulge in the middle
- What does a Population Pyramid NOT give you information about? A: birth rates B: actual number of people C: life expectancy D: death rates
- Which continent would have the most fast-growth pyramids? A: Africa B: Asia C: North America D: South America
today we watched a video about the population pyramid, the population pyramid tells us the range of peoples ages in different countries. Mr. Schick was not in class today because he had to go a wedding, so he gave us a assignment to do while he was not here.

Today in human geo class we talked about interesting facts about countries. We used the cia fact book to find out interesting facts. My interesting was that a lot of people are coming to australia and not enough are leaving, this resulted in a population increase and its still growing. I heard this alarm go off and at first I thought it was someones phone and they were going to get in trouble. Turns out it was just Mr. Schick's phone alarm, so he could remember to sign in for his flight. We talked a little bit about annual income for certain countries. the highest is 102,000. The lowest annual income is the Congo republic with the annual income of 400 dollars a year. This means that most families cannot provide for their families.

Today in human geo we reviewed for the upcoming test, but there was surprise guest in our class Today and his name was ryan. I know ryan lacrosse and it was funny seeing him there in that class.
we talked a little about immigration, emigration, TFR, and crude birth and death rate. For a population to stay the same, the TFR must be 2.1. Higher would result in a increase, lower would result in a decrease in population. We also learned about a method, the method is that with the TFR when one is born it replaces the person who died.

Today in human geography class we learned about crude birth and death rate. The rate is measured by 1000 people. We also learned about the rate of natural increase, this is when you subtract death from north. We learned a lot about migration and emigration, a immigrant is someone who leaves one country and moves/lives in another country. when you leave a country and join a new one, to the country that you left you are considered an emmigrant. But you can also become a dual citizen so u dont have to pledge to a certain one more than another one.

Today in human geo we had our first test, the test was not that hard, I thought that the quiz was very fair and fairly easy. Mr. Schick let us use our blog for the test, good thing that I wrote good information in my blogs. The first couple parts of the test were very easy and I did not need to look at my notes a whole lot. When I got to the part where we had to write the essays, I cringed in my seat because there were so many of them. They were not as bad as I thought when i completed the test. over all I liked the test and thought it was a fair/well written test.

Today in class we talked again about the affect america has on other countries. Mr. Schick showed us a photo of a mcdonalds and KFC in China, this fast food restaurant was like no other. It was the same chain of fast food but the building has a chinese twist on it. Since the american companies have moved to other countries the life expectancy has dropped dramatically. Japanese people are expected to live to at least live to eighty years of age. Fast food causes heart problems and heart attacks if not you don't watch what you eat. All of this is an example of globalization, globalization is the connection between different parts of the world. Globalization is not a new idea, it has been around for a very long time. Alexander the Great used globalization to try and unite many parts of the world under one government. This is what i thought and gathered about today's class.

Today in class Mr. Schick gave us assigned/mandatory seats. Many people did not like this because they were not as close as they wanted to be to there friends so they could socialize and have fun in class. Some people liked their seats and did not want to change their seats at all. Then there were a few who could really care less about where they sit. As for me, I really don't care where I sit because as long as you are getting good grades and paying attention you shouldn't have a problem with talking. Then the whole class got into this big argument and debate on why we should change the seating chart. Mr. Schick decided to do it like the people of athens in the agora. So a few people got up, spoke and said there reasons for the seat change. We won the debate but in the end I ended up in the same seat as before.

Today in human geography class we talked about many things. Here are a few things that we discussed; Mr. Schick helped more people finish setting up their blogs, we discussed a Message to Garcia, and we watched his Als ice bucket challenge.in message to Garcia was not just about getting this letter to him but counting on a reliable person to deliver it safely and on time without any complications. In order to be successful in life you must become a reliable friend, employee, and even boss. If not people will not be able to trust you nor will people rely on you. Mr. Schick showed us his als ice bucket challenge video and its was hilarious! I think he cried in it! To end class he checked to see if everyone had there notebook because it was worth five points.

My five points to succeed freshman year.
Being organized
My five points to succeed freshman year.
Being organized
- Having separate sections on your laptop for different classes, so you don't lose assignments. Have folders for handouts that you get in class.
Turning work in on time.
- Don't turn in homework late and get good grades. Try to utilize your off mods and get homework done.
- Don't fool around in the hallways, for example don't stop and talk to friends. If you know that you wont have time to get your books. You should bring books for your next class.
- Don't break rules and fool around in school. Make sure that your uniform is by school standards and that your shirt tail tucked in.
Use your computer when told to
- Don't play games on your computer when the teacher is talking. Use your computer for school work only, for example don't check other things like your email or YouTube during class unless told to.

Going into my first day of high school, I was very nervous and afraid of what it was going to be like. I was paranoid, my palms were sweating, and I felt sick to my stomach. When my sister and I got to school I immediately asked her were i go and were to put my bags. She helped me so much I don't if I could have made it with out her. I put my bags away after having trouble with my locker for like four minutes and went straight to my advisory. My adviser is very nice and welcoming towards me, as well as the students she has had in recent years. She explained so many important details and facts about John Carroll and how to succeed at this school. On my first day I got to meet my teachers for most of my classes. My favorite teacher so far would have to be Mr. Kimble. There are a lot of new things in high school that I did not have in middle school, for instance, we have off mods and sports after school. I thought my first day was gonna be bad experience for me. I soon realized that i had nothing to worry about, they were inviting to me. They understood that it would a adjustment for us and they did everything they could to help us out. I hope I have a amazing journey at John Carroll.
